'''MrBeast vs T-Series''' was a [[:Category:Subscriber wars|subscriber war]] between ''MrBeast'', an American [[Types_of_YouTube_channels#Creator|YouTube creator]], and ''T-Series'', an Indian [[Types_of_YouTube_channels#Creator|YouTube company]] who became the most subscribed channel after defeating PewDiePie in 2019, for the title of most-subscribed YouTube channel, as well as the longest channel to hold the most-subscribed YouTube channel title. ''MrBeast'' eventually surpassed ''T-Series'' on June 2, 2024. The war ended on December 9, 2024 after both of the channels made shorts subscribing to each other. ==Backstory== {{Main|PewDiePie vs T-Series}} During 2019, ''PewDiePie'' had a subscriber war against ''T-Series'', entitled [[PewDiePie vs T-Series]], for the title of most-subscribed YouTube channel. ''MrBeast'' played a role in the war by being on the first creators to prominently support PewDiePie. He bought billboards and radio advertisements in North Carolina urging people to subscribe to PewDiePie's channel in his video [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZNxvnQv0h4 I Bought Every Billboard In My City For This].<ref>https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/pewdiepie-t-series-youtube-subscribers-most-popular-channel-billboards-felix-kjellberg-a8606441.html</ref> He also created a video of himself saying "PewDiePie" 100,000 times in a period of over 12 hours.<ref>https://variety.com/2019/digital/news/pewdiepie-tseries-youtube-most-subscribed-channel-1202980436/</ref> ''MrBeast'' and his friends attended ''Super Bowl LIII'', wearing T-shirts reading "Sub 2 PewDiePie".<ref>https://www.theverge.com/2019/2/3/18209840/super-bowl-2019-subscribe-to-pewdiepie-mrbeast-youtube-tseries</ref><ref>https://www.cnet.com/news/pewdiepie-cracks-86-million-subscribers-in-ongoing-t-series-battle/</ref> The group was prominently displayed in an ''ESPN'' tweet after Stephen Gostkowski had missed a field goal during the first quarter.<ref>{{Cite tweet|url=https://twtter.com/espn/status/1092211022218317824|name=espn}}</ref> Later on, many would describe ''MrBeast vs T-Series'' as an act to try and avenge and honor ''PewDiePie'', after he lost his spot as the most-subscribed channel in April 2019. ==Acknowledgements== On August 6, 2023, ''MrBeast'' would post a post on Twitter featuring a cropped screenshot of [[MDM]]'s livestream with only him and ''T-Series'', stating "I'm doing this for PewDiePie".<ref>{{Cite tweet|url=https://twitter.com/MrBeast/status/1687881101417783296|name=MrBeast}}</ref><ref>https://indianexpress.com/article/trending/trending-globally/pewdiepie-mrbeast-renews-rivalry-t-series-for-most-subscribed-youtube-channel-8882543/</ref> This is believed to be the first ever official acknowledgement from either side of the war. On August 12, 2023, ''MrBeast'' would post a video on his channel titled [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jObOjhUkf50 $1 vs $250,000 Vacation!], featuring ''PewDiePie''. At the end of the video, text showed on screen stating "Subscibe so we can pass T-Series" in all caps.<ref>{{Cite YouTube|url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jObOjhUkf50&t=960s|t=960|title=$1 vs $250,000 Vacation!|author=MrBeast|date=August 12, 2023}}</ref> On April 15, 2024, ''T-Series'' would post a video on their channel titled [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqLnKj0-xyw UNITE & CREATE HISTORY🇮🇳 | GULSHAN KUMAR'S VISION | SUBSCRIBE TO BE A PART OF T-SERIES FAMILY], telling their viewers to subscribe to their channel to "be a vital part of [their] musical family". Although not a direct acknowledgement of the battle, ''MrBeast'' was already closing in the gap at the time, which made people assume that this was an acknowledgement from ''T-Series''. They would also post similar things on Twitter and Instagram. ''MrBeast'' recognized this, and replied to posts related to T-Series, including replying to their promotion tweet stating "Naw, subscribe to me instead", which would gain more likes than the original tweet.<ref>{{Cite tweet|url=https://twitter.com/MrBeast/status/1782486212978278651|name=MrBeast}}</ref> In September 2023, ''T-Series'' would hit 250 million subscribers. ''MrBeast'' would acknowledge this fact by replying to a tweet by [[SzaSzabi]] of the milestone, stating "That’s the last major milestone they’ll be the first to hit 🤪".<ref>{{Cite tweet|url=https://x.com/MrBeast/status/1706052797840408930|name=MrBeast}}</ref> A few days before the passing, ''MrBeast'' would make several posts on Twitter about the war, one of which stated that he "challenges the CEO of T-Series to a boxing match".<ref>{{Cite tweet|url=https://twitter.com/MrBeast/status/1791203929927086228|name=MrBeast}}</ref> ==Viewstats' #subcount channel== On January 27, 2024, [[Viewstats]] would add a #subcount channel to their Discord server, and the first update was posted the day after on January 28, 2024. The channel was made to post daily updates on ''MrBeast'''s exact subscriber count, with ''David Summerall'' being the person posting the daily updates. ==Viewstats' MrBeast vs T-Series page== In May 2024, [[Viewstats]] would add a page to their website dedicated to the battle, with ''MrBeast'''s full live subscriber count, as well as ''T-Series''<nowiki>'</nowiki> abbreviated subscriber count.{{Efn|The reason why their subscriber count was abbreviated was due to the [[YouTube subscriber count abbreviations]] in 2019.}} Soon after, they would add an estimated subscriber count, courtesy of [[Nia Stats]]. ==The "Phone Boost"== On May 29, 2024, ''MrBeast'' would post a short on his channel titled [https://www.youtube.com/shorts/i-9V21MqlhY Giving 1000 Phones Away]. Just as the title states, he would be giving away 1,000 ''Samsung'' phones to anyone who subscribed to his channel. This short, along with advertisements for the short, gave him a large subscriber boost, which pushed him closer to passing T-Series. ==Passing== On June 2, 2024, at exactly 12:04 AM UTC,<ref>{{Cite YouTube|url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hidyCAp3GmM&t=302s|t=302|title=MrBeast PASSING T-Series (#1 MOST SUBSCRIBED! 🌎)|author=MinMax|date=June 9, 2024}}</ref> ''MrBeast'' would officially surpass ''T-Series'' as the most-subscribed YouTube channel.<ref>{{Cite tweet|url=https://twitter.com/MrBeast/status/1797057918153499065|name=MrBeast}}</ref><ref>https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c8440yxd92xo</ref><ref>https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/technology/social/mrbeast-beats-t-series-to-become-the-most-subscribed-youtube-channel-finally-avenged-/articleshow/110642227.cms</ref><ref>https://kalingatv.com/entertainment/26-year-old-mrbeast-becomes-most-subscribed-youtuber-in-the-world-surpasses-t-series/</ref> This day would become MrBeast's best performing day, gaining 2,084,585 subscribers on that day.<ref>{{Cite tweet|url=https://x.com/MrBeast/status/1797256546541289682|name=MrBeast}}</ref> A few weeks after, he became the first ever YouTube channel to hit 300 million subscribers.<ref>{{Cite tweet|url=https://x.com/MrBeast/status/1811019365514428859|name=MrBeast}}</ref><ref>{{Cite tweet|url=https://x.com/pwnyygaming/status/1811029622986846341|name=pwnyygaming}}</ref><ref>https://www.hindustantimes.com/world-news/us-news/mrbeast-makes-history-becomes-first-youtuber-to-reach-300-million-subscribers-101720623424789.html</ref><ref>https://www.ndtv.com/offbeat/i-remember-mrbeast-becomes-first-youtuber-to-reach-300-million-subscribers-6098524</ref> ==Meetup and official end== On December 10, 2024, ''MrBeast'' and ''T-Series''<nowiki>'</nowiki> CEO ''Bhushan Kumar Dua'' met up and both uploaded shorts on their channels.<ref>{{Cite YouTube|url=https://www.youtube.com/shorts/zvBXpoBegwE|title=I Got T-Series To Subscribe To Me|author=MrBeast|date=December 10, 2024}}</ref><ref>{{Cite YouTube|url=https://www.youtube.com/shorts/IFjTe28W50c|title=We Got Mr. Beast To Subscribe T-Series😉|author=T-Series|date=December 10, 2024}}</ref><ref>{{Cite tweet|url=https://x.com/pwnyygaming/status/1866397756044312751|name=pwnyygaming}}</ref><ref>https://gamerant.com/mrbeast-meets-t-series-ceo-bhushan-kumar-youtube/</ref> In the short, they both subscribed to each other's YouTube channel, officially putting the subscriber war to an end.<ref>https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/technology/tech-news/biggest-collab-ever-mrbeast-and-t-series-subscribe-to-each-other-ending-their-years-long-subscriber-rivalry/articleshow/116160118.cms</ref><ref>https://indianexpress.com/article/trending/trending-globally/mrbeast-subscribes-to-rival-t-series-on-youtube-sets-internet-on-fire-biggest-collab-9716773/</ref><ref>https://www.hindustantimes.com/trending/mrbeast-subscribes-to-t-series-youtuber-makes-a-deal-with-its-rival-end-subrace-101733802760836.html</ref><ref>https://m.economictimes.com/magazines/panache/mrbeast-subscribes-to-t-series-youtube-channel-in-biggest-social-media-collaboration-ever/articleshow/116159160.cms</ref> ==Notes== {{notelist}} ==References== {{reflist}} [[Category:Subscriber wars]]
