JipStats (formerly known as JipIsPlaying[1], Jip Plays, and UnitedStats[2]) is a Chinese[3] YouTuber who is best known for his visualizations and for occasional commentary videos and timelapses. He also used to make livestreams, but has since retired from it and now only sometimes streams on his second channel.[4] He has semi-retired from the YouTube since January 2025, and no longer uploads on a fixed schedule. However, he is still relatively active within in the statistics community, being the server founder and current owner of one of the biggest discord server in the statistics community, Statistics Assembly.
JipStats is now considered one of the more influential statistics creators, as the channel has amassed a high amount of returning viewers for his long-form videos, after his dedication to only create long form videos only, allowing for a stable growth and good performance on his videos. His recent shift to commentary videos has also received widespread success, and approval from his audience.
History[edit]
Early Beginnings: 2020[edit]
JipStats originally started YouTube as a gaming YouTube channel, initially named Jip Plays. Most of his videos in this early stage have been privated, as it no longer relates to the current content Jip does.
Niche Exploration: 2021 - 2022[edit]
For the entire duration of 2021, Jip mainly uploaded minecraft content and also started uploading statistics-related visualizations featuring his friends' YouTube channels. The channel has also undergone rebrands, and the channel name is change to JipIsPlaying, in which the capitalized letters spells out JIP, a little attention to detail. The prototype of the logo currently in use by JipStats is born during that time. The name JipIsPlaying has been used for a long time before the complete rebrand of the channel to base itself on YouTube Statistics purely.
Enlightenment: 2022 - 2023[edit]
After TRAINAlytics contacted the Jip, informing of his overtake in subscribers, Jip officially engaged in the short-lived subscriber war, and a collaboration video has been made between TRAINAlytics and JipIsPlaying. Jip has officially focused on YouTube channel growth and the quality of his videos from then on, to attempt overtaking TRAINAlytics in subscribers once again. This also brought Jip from a relatively isolated state from the statistics community closer to other statistics creators, bringing by new collaboration opportunities with other creators. The effort made to overtake TRAINAlytics came into fruition in October 2022, where Jip's Blackpink stream went viral, and attracted thousands of subscribers in a single day.
Rise: 2023-2024[edit]
The eventual accumulation of viewership has allowed JipStats to sometimes reach the mainstream YouTube algorithm, allowing it to promote his videos in large scale, leading to JipStats having 1 video over a staggering 100,000 views, and 10 videos having over 10,000 views, most of which uploaded relatively recently. This has reflected massive success in his attempt to expand his audience only via traditional means.
"BLACKPINK" Effect[edit]
Sometime during August 2022, JipStats started a livestream tracking BLACKPINK's latest music video at the time entitled "Pink Venom". After a few minutes, he started growing quickly, hitting 1K, 2K, and 3K relatively quickly.[5]
Stream Retirement[edit]
After the last YouTube livestream on his main which occurred on April 4th, 2023, JipStats realized that constantly livestreaming subscriber counts for channel growth is unsustainable and obstructed the video creation process. Since then, he has only focused on long form content creation and occasionally Shorts.
MrBeast Controversy Boost[edit]
When JipStats hit 5,000 Subscribers, popular YouTuber MrBeast fell into a controversy not even a month later, where JipStats seized the opportunity to upload "MrBeast's Subscriber Decline in July-August: Every 10 Minutes". The video currently amassed over 116,000 views[6], becoming the 2nd most viewed video on his channel, and its follow-up video has amassed over 44,000 views[7].
Collaborations[edit]
After only focusing on long form content creation in April 2023, JipStats has since collaborated with other creators in the stats community, which include:
